I came across this old rail car and spent some time taking photos from various aspects. I liked the repetition of the shapes of this section and it reminded me of an abstract oil painting I have, but once home I decided this photo kept my attention the longest because it reminded me of a Rorschach test. What do you see here? ISO 100, f/4.5 1/800 sec, handheld. Upped the exposure a little, the whites and contrast too. I set the vertical line 5 notches to straighten the grid.
These images are from the Pioneer Museum in downtown Colorado Springs, CO. I was looking for LJM in my Found-Alphabet hunt. I was tickled to find a statue with not only a Leg dangling in a space suitable for a photo, but a Left Leg to boot! For a J, I used the portion underneath a park bench arm. Besides the obvious flipping and cropping, I also edited this image to replace the wooden slats that were at the top of the photo with the content aware option. I liked the simplified result. For the M I used some decorative trim on a beam of the ceiling inside the museum. I liked the Moodiness of the area I turned into my M. :-) I know the volunteers at the front desk of the museum searched out their own initials after I explained my purpose for bringing my camera. They thought it great fun to do.
My sister’s dog, Boomer, was my model for this week’s challenge. He is a pure white Havanese and a ball of fire when he thinks there is a squirrel to chase off the deck. I spent quite a bit of time with him, letting him get used to the camera and a big lens pointed at him. Once he got comfortable I started shooting and shooting some more. I finally felt I got into sync with his breathing, allowing me to get a focused shot using my remote release. ISO 800, f/16, 0.6 sec, tripod & extension tubes. I removed shadows, adjusted the whites and blacks somewhat, then desaturated the green and red a little. I also had to use spot remove to get rid of a short, dark thread, which I assume he picked up from my work in progress quilt. Such help I have, haha!
